NEW YORK, NY— Triple threat CARY CURRAN performs in the AAustralian premiere of her solo show CARY FROM THE COCK for three weeks at The TAP GALLERY Theatre. Opening night is Feb 26th at 8pm, and performances run Tuesday through Friday at 8pm, Sat at 2pm, and Sun at 8pm from Feb 26th through Mar 2nd. After a sold-out, much buzzed about run at the Gene Frankel theatre one year ago and at the Chocolate Factory Theatre in Long Island City two years ago, the show is back by popular demand with some new twists and turns for this special run.

Created, performed and written by CARY CURRAN and co-written with MIKE ALBO, CARY FROM THE COCK is an intoxicating evening-length solo performance combining dance, original songs, monologues and video. Cary defies convention and her catholic upbringing with a show that proves it’s always better to strip yourself bare (literally), than repress and stay dressed. Sometimes salty, sometimes sad, always sexy, she'll take you on a warped tour of life from confused Christian teen to downtown queen.

As America’s quintessential, but not at all typical fag hag, she's been thrown out of at least 15 bars, has at least 15,000 gay friends, and will strangle you if you tell her “You can’t dance here.” With raw emotion and honesty “CFTC” presents all the elation and heartbreak that comes with being a different style of woman.

Highlights from the show include: “A Little Fame”, an original, almost-serious song (sung in a be-dazzled hot-dog costume) about her real life relationship to fame and the frustrations of never quite achieving that “knee-deep” status; “Making Love Out of Nothing at All” a comical modern dance piece to the Air Supply song, inspired by her camp liturgical dancing experience. She was only allowed to listen to Air Supply because her Mom's best friend had convinced her that Air Supply was a Christian rock band because of the crosses around their necks; “FAG HAG CARY CURRAN” an eight minute video documentary by Brian Winkowski showing Cary getting dressed for a night out as she talks about her life as fag hag party girl and the describes the role and relationship between a fag hag and a gay man; Joseph, her crazily convincing leather daddy character out to get action in his PNP world; to a MTV-Beyonce-esque song and dance number “Cary from the Cock” to the tune of “Jenny from the Block” but with new lyrics and her own backup dancers, THE HAG FAGS.

Cary has toured extensively all over Europe and the US for the past five years with Caden Manson / BIG ART GROUP performing in the trilogy Shelf Life, Flicker and House of No More at PS122. She recently appeared in Self at Hand with the EAVESDROP company in sold-out runs at Dixon Place in NYC and The Baltimore Theatre Project. Cary, aka "Cherry Dazzle," is the dance captain/choreographer for the legendary Dazzle Dancers and has danced on-stage with Blondie and The Scissor Sisters and on the big screen in the movie Adam and Steve with Parker Posey, Julie Hagerty, and Sally Kirkland.

CARY FROM THE COCK is directed by ANDI STOVER, whose recent credits include: writer/director of “Music to Travel By” at St. Marks Theater and Dramaturg for “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” at the Center Stage. Writer and performer MIKE ALBO not only but co-wrote the show, but also appears as a Hag Fag dancer in the “Cary from the Cock.” Cary and Mike have worked together on several of his live shows. Mike has written and starred in a string of hit solo shows: “Spray,” “Please Everything Burst,” “My Price Point” and is the author of the novels “Hornito: My Lie Life” and “The Underminer: The Best Friend Who Casually Destroys Your Life.”

CARY FROM THE COCK plays THE TAP GALLERY Theatre (278 Palmer Street Darlinghurst NSW) ONE WEEK / 6 SHOWS ONLY, Tuesday, Wednsday, Thursday, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 8pm Feb 26th – Mar 2nd, 2008.
